About
Named after a mispronounced anime character from the Swedish dub of Silver Fang, Takida have built a serious alternative rock career out of their hometown of Ånge, Sweden. Signed to Ninetone Records in 2005, they hit their stride fast: their second album Bury the Lies generated multiple chart toppers on Swedish radio, including "Curly Sue", which sat at number one on P3's Tracks list for ten weeks straight. Rather than cash in by signing with a major label after that success, they chose to release the follow up The Darker Instinct on their own imprint. They eventually linked up with Roadrunner Records for international reach, breaking into the German market in late 2009 with support slots alongside Theory of a Dead Man and The Butterfly Effect. Their output has been consistent and prolific over the years, stretching across ten studio albums, with The Agony Flame arriving in 2024. Band members Tomas Wallin and Chris Rehn also run a side project called Dreamstate, featuring Amaranthe vocalist Elize Ryd.
