Boston's Del Fuegos were one of those bands that felt like they could have been massive but kept slipping through the cracks at just the wrong moments. Their scrappy garage rock sound picked up serious fans in the mid 1980s, including Tom Petty, who liked them enough to have them open on tour and even showed up on one of their tracks. A Miller Beer TV spot gave them widespread exposure in 1986, and songs like "Don't Run Wild" and "I Still Want You" became their calling cards. The band cycled through label trouble and internal friction between brothers Dan and Warren Zanes before finally dissolving. The story didn't end there, though. After 21 years apart they reunited in Boston in 2011, raised money for a bandmate's recovery charity, and knocked out eight new songs in three days for the EP Silver Star. Dan Zanes went on to win a Grammy for children's music, while Warren became vice president of education at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have continued to pull the band back together for occasional shows over the years.
