About
From Wrexham in north Wales, The Royston Club have been quietly building a loyal following since their 2019 debut single 'Shawshank'. The band, made up of Tom Faithfull on vocals and rhythm guitar, Ben Matthias on lead guitar, Dave Tute on bass, and Sam Jones on drums, got their oddly charming name from an old men's club in Acrefair that Matthias kept driving past on the way to his grandparents' place. Their sound sits firmly in the indie rock lane, and they've steadily grown from open mic nights at a local Wrexham pub to headlining their own tours. Their run of singles and music videos, including 'Blisters' and 'Mrs Narcissistic', shows a band getting sharper with every release. More recently they put out 'The Patch Where Nothing Grows', and a live version of 'Cariad' recorded in Liverpool hints at where they're headed. They've also shown a playful side with a Taylor Swift cover thrown into the mix. Compact, melodic, and very much doing it on their own terms.
