About
The Wieners are a Dutch rockabilly group who have been at it for around twenty years, and they pride themselves on an authentic fifties sound, tight vocal harmonies and a very dry sense of humour. All four members sing. Rob Roemers handles guitar and piano, Jaap Wijn plays guitar, Jan Timmersmans drums and guitar, and Erwin Meijdam the double bass. Their repertoire leans on the classics of early rock 'n' roll, with songs by Elvis Presley, Ricky Nelson, Fats Domino, Dion & The Belmonts and Buddy Holly, plus a few lesser known gems from the same era. Between songs they tell stories about the music, so a Wieners set is part concert, part history lesson with jokes. They have also built a theatre show around the American fifties and the TV series Happy Days.
