TRESOR

About

Few artists can claim to have written for Drake twice in the same year, but TRESOR pulled it off in 2022, co writing and co producing six tracks on Honestly, Nevermind, then landing at number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters list shortly after. Born in Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he built his career from the ground up in South Africa, and his 2015 debut album VII got there on pure momentum, hitting number one on the dance charts in Italy and earning a Best Pop Album win at the South African Music Awards. His sound sits somewhere between Afro soul and pop, and he has a knack for collaborations that feel organic rather than calculated. His 2017 follow up The Beautiful Madness and his 2019 album Nostalgia both won Best Afro Pop Album at the SAMAs, giving him three consecutive wins across his first three records. He also contributed a cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters to The Metallica Blacklist charity album in 2021, which tells you something about his range. On top of making music, he runs his own label and entertainment group, Jacquel Entertainment Group, distributed through Universal Music.
