Vox Luminis is a Belgian early music vocal ensemble based in Namur, led by Lionel Meunier, and they have built a serious reputation for tackling the rich vocal repertoire of 17th and 18th century Italy, England, and Germany. Their core is a flexible group of eight to thirteen singers, most of them originally from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, and that shared background gives their sound a striking coherence of tone colours while still leaving room for individual voices to shine. The ensemble broke through internationally with their recording of Heinrich Schütz's Musicalische Exequien, which picked up a Gramophone Award and an International Classical Music Award in 2012. Since then they have kept up a steady stream of recordings across labels including Ricercar, Alpha Classics, and Ramée, covering repertoire from Purcell's King Arthur to Biber's Requiem. Their Luther reformation disc later won a BBC Music Magazine Choral Award, and a 2019 Gramophone Award for Choral music followed for their Buxtehude Abendmusiken recording.
