About
Wishful Singing is a Dutch vocal ensemble of five women whose sound ranges from Gregorian chant and early polyphony to classical repertoire and folk music. They are known for their pitch perfect intonation, a warm stage presence, and a gift for making music feel accessible without dumbing it down. Wider recognition came through collaborations with comedian Herman Finkers and the singing programme Zing je sterk. The group works across theatre and concert settings. For the theatre production Metropolis, a modern stage adaptation of Fritz Lang's silent film, they provided the vocal core of a score by composer Steven Kamperman that weaves ghostly singing together with driving percussion and electronic sound. In their concert programme Nix Immortalis, made together with the VOCES8 Scholars Ensemble, they return to Gregorian chant and early polyphony for a quietly immersive winter programme built around stillness, candlelight, and the textures of frozen landscapes.
