About
Stereogum named World News their number one Best New Artist of 2024, which feels about right for a London four piece that has been quietly stacking up some of the best write ups in indie rock. Their sound pulls from post punk and new wave, with cascading guitar lines and a dry, hook driven urgency that critics have compared to The Smiths, The Clash, Parquet Courts, and Talk Talk. The Fader called it throwback indie rock of the highest order, and it is hard to argue. The band built their catalogue steadily through a run of EPs, with Escape and Mindsnap both landing in 2024. KEXP described Mindsnap as a strong collection of expansive, moody jangle rock, pulling in threads of shoegaze and Krautrock alongside the indie and post punk foundations. Their single Wrapped in Gold even drew comparisons to Jimi Hendrix, with The Line of Best Fit calling them potential candidates for the best power trio since The Police.
