About
Also known as: Larissa de Macedo Machado, MC Anitta
Anitta has spent the better part of a decade turning Brazilian funk and pop into a genuinely global force. Born Larissa de Macedo Machado in Rio de Janeiro, she broke through in Brazil with her self titled debut album in 2013, which went platinum and produced the hit "Show das Poderosas". She steadily expanded her reach, mixing Portuguese, Spanish and English across projects like the trilingual album Kisses and the CheckMate project, which featured international collaborations including "Downtown" and "Vai Malandra". Her fifth studio album, Versions of Me, took things to another level entirely. The single "Envolver" made her the first Brazilian artist to top a global music chart, hitting number one on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and number one on Spotify's Global Top 200, earning her a Guinness World Record in the process. She followed that up with her sixth album, Funk Generation, which kept her MTV VMA streak alive and landed her a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Pop Album.
