Coone, the stage name of Belgian DJ and producer Koen Bauweraerts from Turnhout, built his reputation in the hardstyle and jumpstyle scenes with a distinctly uncompromising approach: his sets are around 75% his own work, remixes, or bootlegs. He founded the influential Dirty Workz label in 2006, which helped shape the harder dance music landscape in Belgium and beyond. A breakout remix of Blur's "Song 2" under the alias "The Artist Also Known As" first put him on the map, and he has since racked up multiple entries in the DJ Mag Top 100, peaking as the highest ranked hardstyle DJ in 2015. His collaborations read like a cross genre tour: teaming up with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike on the Lil Jon featuring "Madness", co signing with Steve Aoki's Dim Mak Records, and remixing Linkin Park. In 2018 he became the first hardstyle artist ever to perform on the Tomorrowland mainstage, a milestone that said plenty about how far the genre had come. Albums like Global Dedication, Less Is More and Loyalty Is Everything show a discography that keeps evolving.
