About
The name alone tells you a lot about Dinosaur Pile Up. Leeds guitarist Matt Bigland came up with it after watching a stampede scene in the 2005 King Kong remake, and the absurdity of that image pretty much sets the tone for the band's gloriously ramshackle take on alternative rock and grunge. Bigland recorded the debut album Growing Pains entirely on his own in a home studio, playing every instrument, and the result landed the band supporting slots with Cage the Elephant, Feeder, and Twin Atlantic. Their second album Nature Nurture arrived in 2013, followed by a run of US tours alongside You Me At Six and Brand New. Third album Eleven Eleven, recorded with producer Tom Dalgety at the legendary Rockfield Studios, pushed the band into heavier, more polished territory. Dalgety had worked with Royal Blood and Turbowolf, and that pedigree shows. Current lineup is Bigland on guitar and vocals, Mike Sheils on drums, and Jim Cratchley on bass.
