About

Also known as: DMX Crew

Edward Upton has been releasing music under the DMX Krew name since the mid 1990s, building one of the more prolific and consistent catalogs in UK electronic music. His sound sits firmly in early electro, acid house, and breakbeat territory, though he has never been afraid to push into more experimental corners. Six albums on Aphex Twin's Rephlex Records gave him a cult following that has only grown over the decades, and he has kept his own Breakin' label busy with a steady stream of singles and EPs alongside it. The discography is genuinely staggering in scope, from the raw electro pop of his late 1990s output through the ambitious Collapse of the Wave Function series, which took things in a more experimental direction, and on to more recent albums like Glad to Be Sad, Ghost Bubbles, and Spiral Dance. He also records under a pile of aliases including Ed DMX, EDMX, Computor Rockers, and Bass Potato, each pointing at a slightly different corner of his sound.
