About
Elder Island are a Bristol trio who started out as an experimental audiovisual project called Trouvaille in 2014, playing folk music before gradually shifting toward house music and settling into the atmospheric, genre blending sound they carry today. The name comes from a Canadian island, and their self titled debut EP was enough to land them airplay on BBC Radio 6. While all three members kept day jobs alongside the band, they put out their first full album, The Omnitone Collection, in 2019, backing it with a North American tour. Two years later came Swimming Static, their second studio record. The group is built around Katy Sargent's vocals and cello, Luke Thornton's bass and programming, and David Havard's guitar and keyboards, a combination that gives their music a texture that sits somewhere between electronic and organic.
