About
Also known as: Jahiem
New Brunswick's Jaheim built his name on a gritty but soulful brand of contemporary R&B that wore its roots proudly. Signed by Naughty by Nature's Kay Gee to Divine Mill Records, he dropped his debut Ghetto Love in 2001 and followed it quickly with Still Ghetto, which delivered the Top 40 singles "Fabulous" and "Put That Woman First". His third album, Ghetto Classics, landed at number one on the Billboard 200 in 2006, moving over 153,000 copies in its first week. He later moved to Atlantic Records and then to BMG, releasing seven studio albums in total and racking up five million records sold worldwide, along with three Grammy nominations. His soul credentials run deep: he is the grandson of late 1960s soul singer Hoagy Lands. That lineage shows in his voice and his approach, drawing on classic soul textures while staying firmly in the R&B lane. His seventh album Struggle Love arrived in 2016 through his own Julie's Dream Music Group in partnership with BMG.
