Joshua Bassett built his name playing the charming, slightly cynical Ricky Bowen on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, but his ambitions were always as much about the music as the acting. Signed to Warner Records in 2020, he dropped his debut single "Common Sense" and quickly followed it with a run of releases that showed real pop instincts, including "Lie Lie Lie", which cracked both the US Bubbling Under Hot 100 and the UK Singles chart. He wrote and co wrote several original songs for the HSMTMTS soundtracks, picking up a Children's and Family Emmy Award for "Finally Free". His debut album The Golden Years arrived in July 2024, marking the natural next step after four EPs that ranged from breezy pop to something with a bit more emotional weight. On screen he also lent his voice to Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again and starred in Better Nate Than Ever, both in 2022.
