About
Josiah Leming, who records as Josiah and the Bonnevilles, has one of the more unusual origin stories in American indie folk. He spent time literally living out of his car, driving across the US to play wherever he could, before a stint on American Idol Season 7 brought him wider attention. He never cracked the top 24, but Simon Cowell publicly said it was a mistake not to put him through, and Warner Bros. signed him anyway, making him the only Idol contestant without a top 24 finish to land a major label deal. His debut album Come on Kid, recorded in London and Los Angeles, came out in 2010 and parted ways with Warner Bros. shortly after. Since going independent, he has kept releasing music under the Josiah and the Bonnevilles name at his own pace. Recent tracks include Ghost by the Creek and Blood Moon, and in 2024 he wrapped up his first ever sold out headlining tour. His song To Run holds the odd distinction of being the only American Idol contestant composition ever covered in the Kidz Bop series.
