Born out of the Mnet reality competition Girls Planet 999, Kep1er hit the ground running when their debut EP First Impact dropped on January 3, 2022. The lead single "Wa Da Da" landed on both the Billboard Global 200 and the World Digital Songs chart, and the record moved around 400,000 copies, topping South Korea's Gaon Album Chart. That kind of entrance earned them New Wave of the Year recognition at multiple awards ceremonies, including the Asia Artist Awards and Seoul Music Awards. Their reach extends well beyond Korea. The Japanese debut single "Fly Up" debuted at number two on the Oricon Singles Chart, crossed 100,000 units, and picked up a gold certification from the RIAJ. The group kept building from there, releasing EPs like Lovestruck! and Magic Hour while headlining arena shows in Tokyo, Aichi, and Kobe. More recently, their 2024 track "Shooting Star" signals the group is still very much in motion.
