About
Makari takes their name from a Gaelic word for poet, which feels fitting for a band whose sound sits at the intersection of alternative and progressive rock. Based in Orlando, Florida, they built their reputation through years of relentless touring alongside acts like Hail the Sun, Jonny Craig, and Kurt Travis, and by playing Vans Warped Tour in 2018. That same year they dropped their debut full length Hyperreal, produced by Andrew Wade, to solid reviews. Vocalist Andy Cizek joined in 2017 and has been the voice of the band ever since. After going independent in 2020 and releasing both the Alternate EP and Continuum EP that year, Makari kept pushing forward. Their 2024 album Wave Machine, previewed by singles like Soulstealer and Breakers, marked a confident step and led to a headlining US tour. They show no signs of slowing down, with a single called Disappearing Act arriving in late 2025.
