Moritz von Oswald Trio

About

The Moritz von Oswald Trio is the Berlin based outfit led by percussionist and dub techno architect Moritz von Oswald, the man behind the foundational label Basic Channel. The trio started out with Max Loderbauer and Finnish producer Vladislav Delay, releasing a run of records from Vertical Ascent in 2009 through to Fetch in 2012, including a Live in New York set along the way. The sound sits at the intersection of techno, dub and experimental electronic music, with long, sculpted pieces that breathe and shift rather than rush. When Vladislav Delay stepped away, legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen came on board, and the trio released Sounding Lines in 2015. That lineup brought a whole new rhythmic dimension to the group, blending Allen's unmistakable groove with the trio's characteristic spaciousness. With collaborators like Laurel Halo also having passed through the ranks, the project has always kept things genuinely open and exploratory.
