Oliver Tree built a reputation on gleeful genre chaos, blending alternative rock, hip hop and pop in ways that were impossible to file neatly anywhere. His 2020 debut album Ugly Is Beautiful put him on the map properly, with certified singles like "Alien Boy", "Hurt" and "Let Me Down" pulling in listeners who weren't sure what they were hearing but couldn't stop. The album also came bundled with a Guinness World Record stunt: he designed and rode the world's largest functional kick scooter as a promotional gimmick, which felt entirely on brand. He kept the momentum going with "Life Goes On" in 2021 and the massive international hit "Miss You" in 2022, the latter with Robin Schulz. His second album Cowboy Tears arrived in February 2022, leaning into a cowboy persona with pop rock and country aesthetics, and a third album Alone in a Crowd followed in 2023. His fourth and final album Love You Madly Hate You Badly came out in April 2026. He died in a helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro in June 2026, while on tour for that album.
