Thijs Boontjes is a Dutch musician who sings and plays keys in his own Thijs Boontjes Dans en Showorkest, an act that blends dance and show music into something distinctly his own. He has spent years as a sought after sideman too, playing keys in Anouk's backing band until 2009, then with Douwe Bob all the way through 2019, and he contributed to the Ruben Hoeke Band's 2010 record Coexist. His solo output picked up pace with a small hit in 2016 called Alleen naar de kermis, followed by the single Dansen met jou and the pandemic era release Thermopane in 2020. His band also handles the musical framing of the Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal since it moved to radio in 2018, which says something about how well regarded they are in Dutch cultural circles.
