Chassé Theater

Claudius Prinsenlaan 8

4811 DK Breda

The Chassé Theater sits in the centre of Breda, next to the old Kloosterkazerne, and takes its name from the Dutch military officer David Hendrik Chassé. The building, designed by architect Herman Hertzberger and completed in 1995, is immediately recognizable for its sweeping, undulating roof, which sets it apart from conventional theater architecture. It replaced an earlier municipal venue, the Stadsschouwburg Concordia, and grew into the largest combined film and live performance theater in the south of the Netherlands. The complex contains three theater halls, three cinema screens and three restaurants, and draws around 400,000 visitors per year. As a concert venue, the Chassé operates squarely in the territory of established Dutch and international artists rather than emerging or underground acts.

About Van Baerle Trio

Named after the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam, this piano trio came together in 2004 when pianist Hannes Minnaar, violinist Maria Milstein and cellist Gideon den Herder were all students at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.
