Igorrr announces European headline tour with a stop in Maastricht

French multi instrumentalist and producer Gautier Serre, who has been working under the name Igorrr for twenty years, has announced a new European headline tour for March 2027. According to Blabbermouth, the run of shows is meant to support "Amen", the project's fifth album, which came out in autumn 2025 via Metal Blade Records.

Dutch fans can catch Igorrr in Maastricht: on April 2, 2027, he plays the Muziekgieterij. That's the only Dutch date on the list. The tour kicks off on March 13 with a show at Headbang Festival in Aix en Provence, then winds its way through Solothurn, Zagreb, Belgrade, Athens, Thessaloniki, Istanbul, Sofia, Bucharest, Kosice, Brno, Leipzig and Wiesbaden, before heading to Metz, Maastricht, Reims and Strasbourg, where the run wraps up on April 4.

Serre himself says the new album is darker than its predecessors. He talks about a heavy, solemn atmosphere that Igorrr hasn't reached before. That's partly down to recording a real choir in a church, he says, but mostly to long, painstaking work on the sound, the choice of instruments and in depth experimental research into a sound design of his own. Since it's still an Igorrr record, there are also more colorful tracks on it, like "Blastbeat Falafel" and "ADHD…". They contrast sharply with the brooding ambient material, and Serre says he needs that contrast to be able to get through an album with full concentration, "like a shot of limoncello before the next meal".

"Amen" features guest appearances from Scott Ian of Anthrax, Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle and Mike Leon, known from CKY and Soulfly. Since signing with Metal Blade in 2017, Igorrr has grown from one man's pseudonym into a full band, though Serre remains the driving force and mastermind behind the project.

Igorrr is known for a sound that's hard to pin down. Serre stresses that Bach and Chopin are just as important an influence as Cannibal Corpse, Aphex Twin and Meshuggah. He finds it hard to pinpoint where his inspiration comes from: in his view it's not one single event but an accumulation of everything, and his brain is constantly making music, even in his sleep. The real challenge is choosing which ideas to keep. His previous album, "Spirituality And Distortion" from 2020, reached number 12 on the German album chart.
