Madonna and Kylie Minogue surprise Amsterdam with duet at WorldPride

Amsterdam was the scene of one of the most talked about pop moments of the year on 1 August 2026. Madonna brought her Club Confessions album launch show to AFAS Live as part of the WorldPride Music Festival, and midway through her set she pulled a surprise that sent the six thousand strong crowd into a frenzy: Kylie Minogue walked out onto the stage.

The evening kicked off with sets from Honey Dijon and Bebe Rexha, after which Madonna played a set of around thirty minutes. The moment 'Love Sensation' started up, Minogue strolled onto the stage in a metallic purple outfit and sang the track alongside the Queen of Pop. According to Rolling Stone, it was a new remix of the song featuring Minogue's vocals, whereas the original studio version on Confessions II does not list her as a guest artist. 'Love Sensation' came out in June as an advance single and reached number one on Billboard's Dance Airplay chart before the album dropped on 3 July. Confessions II was made in collaboration with producer Stuart Price, who also worked on the original Confessions on a Dance Floor back in 2005.

Minogue stayed on stage as Madonna closed her set with 'Sorry' and 'Hung Up', two classics from that 2005 album. Afterwards, Minogue shared behind the scenes footage on Instagram with the words: "Thank you everyone at Club Confessions World Pride Amsterdam."

It was only the second time the two pop icons had shared a stage. Their first joint appearance came in March 2024, when Minogue joined Madonna during a stop of the Celebration Tour at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, around the time of International Women's Day. That night they performed Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive' together, along with an a cappella version of Minogue's own hit 'Can't Get You Out of My Head'.

The collaboration had been the subject of speculation for some time. Rumours that Minogue would contribute to Confessions II had been circulating, partly because Madonna was noticeably evasive when asked about a possible collaboration on The Graham Norton Show. "Why do you have to know everything? It's my job to be mysterious," she said. Minogue herself denied in May to the Los Angeles Times that she appeared on the album: "That's a random thing. There was a rumor I was on her album, but I'm not, I'm excited to hear it, all!" The WorldPride performance seems to have breathed new life into that speculation, though neither artist has confirmed any formal plans for an official remix.

For Dutch and Belgian music fans the setting makes it all the more special: it is not every day that two of the biggest pop artists in the world perform together in Amsterdam, and on top of that in the context of WorldPride. Minogue's appearance also came during a busy stretch for the Australian singer, as just two days earlier she had joined Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at a major concert in Brighton to perform 'Where the Wild Roses Grow'.
