Few bands can claim their name is literally a pun on their hometown, but 1000mods pull it off: the Greek word for "thousand" is "chilia", a nod to Chiliomodi, the small Greek town where they formed in 2006. Their sound sits in heavy, hypnotic territory, blending stoner rock, desert rock and doom metal into something that hits with real weight. Their debut album Super Van Vacation was tracked with legendary producer Billy Anderson, and the band hit the road hard behind it, playing 40 shows across 15 countries. Over the years they have steadily levelled up, recording their fourth album Youth of Dissent in Seattle with producer Matt Bayles, known for his work with Pearl Jam and Mastodon. Their fifth album Cheat Death, released in late 2024 via Ouga Booga and the Mighty Oug Recordings, has been called one of the heaviest things they have put out yet, drawing in plenty of new listeners along the way.
