About
Abigail Lapell is a Toronto based Canadian folk songwriter who has quietly built one of the more decorated careers in the country's folk scene. She has taken home multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, winning Contemporary Album of the Year for Hide Nor Hair in 2017 and English Songwriter of the Year for Getaway in 2020. Her 2016 song "Jordan" also earned her the Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award. Her 2024 album Anniversary saw her teaming up with Great Lake Swimmers on several tracks and landed a Juno Award nomination for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year. She also picked up the Children's Album of the Year award at the 2025 Canadian Folk Music Awards for her 2023 record Lullabies. Her most recent album Shadow Child features guest appearances from Jill Barber, Frazey Ford, Dana Sipos and Pharis Romero, a who's who of Canadian folk talent.
