Victoria, British Columbia duo Ocie Elliott take their name from an unlikely mashup: Jon Middleton pulled "Ocie Cleve" out of a 1920s name generator and paired it with the first name of Elliott Smith, a nod to Sierra Lundy's obsession with that decade. The result is a duo whose sound draws heavily from Gillian Welch, John Prine, Bob Dylan, and Simon and Garfunkel, and it shows. Three albums, six EPs, and over a billion Spotify streams later, they are one of Canada's quietly dominant folk acts. Their 2023 single "Down by the Water" went Platinum in Canada, and their songs have turned up in Grey's Anatomy, New Amsterdam, The Good Doctor, and several other TV series. They have shared stages with Zach Bryan at Red Rocks and Gregory Alan Isakov, and played Newport Folk Festival and Bonnaroo. Their third album, Bungalow, arrived in late 2025.
