About
Abysmal Dawn have been grinding out technically ferocious death metal from Los Angeles since 2003, with guitarist and vocalist Charles Elliott as the one constant in a lineup that has shifted around him ever since. Their early demo tape made enough noise in underground metal circles to land them shows with Exodus, Hate Eternal, and Suffocation, and things took off from there. Signing to Relapse Records for 2008's Programmed to Consume was a real turning point, and the 2014 album Obsolescence earned serious praise, with The Village Voice calling it the closest thing to a perfect metal album that year. Their fifth studio album Phylogenesis came out on Season of Mist in 2020. More recently the band has been releasing new material, including tracks like Soul Sick Nation featuring Fredrick Folklare of Unleashed and Mundane Existence, both surfacing in early 2025.
