Acting The Maggot are a Dutch folk band with a taste for the Irish tradition, and the name gives the game away immediately. 'Acting the maggot' is a well known Irish expression for foolish or boisterous behaviour, which sets the tone perfectly for what they do on stage. Their show 'Irish Rebels & Rovers' pulls from the full sweep of Irish folk, mixing widely loved classics about love, whisky, rebels and wanderers with lesser known gems, all played with a hefty dose of energy and fun. Fans of The Dubliners and The Pogues will feel right at home. The band describe their own sound as feestfolk, a kind of party ready folk, and that reputation for high spirited performances is very much the point.
