About
Alexis Ffrench has a knack for making classical music feel genuinely accessible without dumbing it down. The British pianist and composer blends his conservatoire training with R&B and roots music to create something that sits comfortably in its own lane, and it clearly resonates: his music has racked up more than a billion streams, and three of his albums, Evolution, Dreamland, and Classical Soul Vol. 1, all hit number one on the Classical Music Charts. His 2017 single Bluebird alone passed 250 million streams in North America. Beyond recording, Ffrench is genuinely embedded in the classical world as a trustee of the Royal Academy of Music and the first artistic director of the Royal Schools of Music. He has headlined the Royal Albert Hall, performed at the Coronation Concert for King Charles III, and collaborated with artists like Leona Lewis and Paloma Faith. His weekly show on Scala Radio, where Kendrick Lamar sits side by side with Shostakovich, gives a pretty good sense of where his head is at.
