Chad Lawson has a knack for finding the emotional core of classical music and making it feel personal. His fifth album, The Chopin Variations, put him on the map in a big way, hitting number one on the Billboard Top Classical Albums chart with a double album that pairs solo piano reimaginings of Chopin with string collaborations featuring violinist Judy Kang and cellist Rubin Kodheli. He signed to Decca Records US in 2020, recording You Finally Knew and later Breathe, a double album tracked at Abbey Road Studios with violinist Esther Yoo and cellist Peter Gregson, timed to National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. Beyond the piano bench, Lawson composes for the podcasts Lore and Unobscured, both created by Aaron Mahnke, and hosts his own iHeart Radio Award nominated podcast Calm It Down, a weekly show weaving meditation techniques and mental health conversations together with his music. He is also a certified breathwork coach and a UN ambassador for the World Federation for Mental Health.
