About

Russian British violinist Alina Ibragimova has built a reputation as one of the most versatile string players around, equally at home in baroque repertoire and full scale romantic concertos. She co founded the Chiaroscuro Quartet in 2005, a period instrument group playing on gut strings with historical bows, and has performed Bach's complete Sonatas and Partitas at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall. Her discography on Hyperion Records spans a remarkable range, from Paganini's 24 Caprices to multiple volumes of Mozart violin sonatas recorded with pianist Cédric Tiberghien, a collaborator she returns to regularly. On the concerto front, she has worked with major orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw, San Francisco Symphony and London Symphony, alongside conductors like Nathalie Stutzmann and Vladimir Jurowski. She holds an MBE for services to music and has won the Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award. She plays on an instrument by Anselmo Bellosio dating from around 1775.
