About
Amble started out as a simple pub duo with Robbie Cunningham and Oisín McCaffrey playing covers in exchange for free pints, but things escalated quickly once Ross McNerney joined on mandolin and banjo. A gig in Leitrim turned out to be a turning point: McNerney pushed for the band to take things seriously, and by 2024 all three had quit their day jobs, including a data scientist at Pfizer and two teachers, after signing with Warner Records. The phrase Cunningham's father threw at him when he announced he was leaving teaching, "throw the trout out to catch the salmon", stuck so hard it ended up on the band's merch. Their Irish folk sound has been catching on, with recent official videos for tracks like "Schoolyard Days" and "Lonely Island", and a live session of "Jersey Giant" filmed in Dublin in 2025.
