About
The Coronas have been quietly building one of Ireland's most consistent rock careers since the mid 2000s, running their own independent label, 3ú Records, and doing it largely on their own terms. The Dublin band's debut album Heroes or Ghosts spent 74 weeks in the Irish charts and got compared to Jeff Buckley and the Libertines, which set the tone nicely. Their follow up, Tony Was an Ex Con, hit number one on the Irish iTunes chart and won Best Irish Album at the 2010 Meteor Awards, beating out U2 and Snow Patrol in the process. By the time Closer to You came out in 2011, produced by Tony Hoffer (known for his work with Beck, The Kooks and Supergrass), the band had a sound polished enough to get a mainstream UK release. They've since put out seven studio albums in total, showing a knack for melodic indie rock that keeps finding new audiences. Danny O'Reilly, Graham Knox and Conor Egan first crossed paths at Terenure College, which is where the whole thing started.
