Anastasia Kobekina plays cello on a 1698 Antonio Stradivari instrument, which tells you something about the level she operates at. The Russian cellist from Yekaterinburg took third prize at the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019 and received the Leonard Bernstein Award in 2024, the same year she performed at the Rheingau Musik Festival. Her repertoire spans Vivaldi, Elgar, Glazunov and Tchaikovsky, and she has appeared as soloist with orchestras including the Wiener Symphoniker, the BBC Philharmonic and the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra. Her album Venice earned an Edison nomination, and an ARD documentary was filmed during those recording sessions. More recently she released the Bach Cello Suites, performing them everywhere from concert halls to hospitals and living rooms.
