About

Also known as: Antoniy Baryshevskiy, Antony Baryshevsky, Антоний Барышевский

Antonii Baryshevskyi is the kind of pianist who finds something genuinely personal inside the standard repertoire. His recording of Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition drew praise from Gramophone for going beyond surface drama to touch emotions that feel distinctly his own, and his Scriabin playing was singled out as the most unequivocally impressive part of that disc. He took first prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition and has performed at Wigmore Hall, the Berliner Philharmonie, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and De Doelen, working with orchestras from Munich to Israel. When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, Baryshevskyi had played a concert in Kyiv just the night before. He spent the first days of the war making camouflage nets in Lviv before organising a charity video concert to support colleagues. Since then he has made the Netherlands his base, taking up a residency at Splendor in Amsterdam, and has toured the UK alongside violinist Alexey Semenenko with the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine.
