About
After a decade of touring, writing and recording with Dawn Brothers, Bas van Holt has stepped out on his own. His solo project trades the dynamics of band life for intuition and experimentation, pulling in sounds from across the spectrum: folky storytelling songs, grungy rock, spontaneous improvisations and quieter instrumental guitar pieces. Artists like Beck, Daniel Lanois and Paul McCartney are touchstones for the sound. Mostly recorded by Bas himself, the album Fruit Basket was put together with help from a handful of collaborators including Pablo van de Poel of DeWolff, Darryl Ciggaar of Minko, Ties Voskamp of Cocobolo, Jelle Rozenburg and Yanna Pelser. The whole thing is released through Echo Archive Recordings. Genre consistency is beside the point here. What ties it together is curiosity.
