About
Bears in Trees call themselves a 'dirtbag boyband', which tells you a lot about their vibe. The four piece from Croydon, South London, blends indie rock, folk, and pop into something that sounds both scrappy and emotionally precise. Their 2020 companion EPs I Want To Feel Chaotic and Keep Me Safe, released during UK lockdowns, dealt with grief, self acceptance, and the parts of yourself that scare you at 3am. Those EPs caught the ear of Counter Intuitive Records, who signed them after a label rep spotted one of their TikToks. Their 2021 debut album and everybody else smiled back, which the band described as 'a house party at the end of the world', cemented their fanbase and led to headline tours on both sides of the Atlantic. By 2024 they had gone fully independent, turning down a major label deal to release How to Build an Ocean: Instructions on their own terms. Their most streamed track, Ramblings of a Lunatic, came out of that grief soaked lockdown era and has stuck around ever since.
