About
Birmingham's Benediction have been grinding out death metal since 1989, and after more than three decades they show no sign of slowing down. Their debut Subconscious Terror landed in 1990, and the band has built a catalogue of eleven studio albums since then, including Scriptures in 2020 and their latest, Ravage of Empires, released in April 2025. The music is intense and uncompromising, rooted firmly in death metal with grindcore and thrash in the mix. One of the more curious footnotes in their history is their role as a launching pad for big names: vocalist Mark Greenway went on to front Napalm Death, and the band's revolving roster has connected them to acts across the extreme metal world. Dave Ingram, who also made his name with Bolt Thrower, returned to the mic in 2019 and has been driving the band ever since. The recent uploads of tracks like Engines of War and Beyond the Veil of the Grey Mare suggest Ravage of Empires is keeping fans well fed.
