About
Sinister have been grinding out Dutch death metal since 1988, making them one of the genre's longest running acts out of the Netherlands. Formed in Schiedam, they've put out fourteen studio albums, from the early brutality of Cross the Styx in 1992 through to Deformation of the Holy Realm in 2020, which means they've outlasted countless lineup changes and even a two year hiatus in the early 2000s. One constant throughout has been Aad Kloosterwaard, who spent the band's first era behind the drum kit before stepping up to lead vocals after the break. What makes their story interesting is how much the band has shifted shape over the decades while keeping the core death metal sound intact. Fourteen studio albums across more than thirty years is no small thing, and with a fifteenth reportedly wrapped in recording by late 2023, Sinister clearly aren't slowing down.
