About
Also known as: Arnaud Fayette-Mikano
A Grammy winning R&B singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and producer, Bilal built his reputation on a refusal to be boxed in by genre. His debut album '1st Born Second' is considered one of the landmark records of the neo soul era, featuring contributions from producers J Dilla and Dr. Dre. On that record he treated his voice as a full instrument in its own right, moving from the love ballad 'Soul Sista' to the G funk groove of 'Fast Lane' without missing a beat. The album has now passed its 25th anniversary and still sounds like nothing else from that period. Bilal went on to release two further albums in 2024, showing he has lost none of his restless creative energy. He is originally from France and works across conscious hip hop and hip hop alongside his R&B output.
