About
Black Doldrums are a London based trio whose sound sits somewhere between gothic post punk, darkwave and shoegaze, built from raw, driving rhythms, layered guitar textures and melodic bass lines. Lyrics circle around themes of isolation, psychology, identity and human connection, and the whole thing carries a persistent sense of both menace and euphoria. Live, that tension becomes something close to ritualistic: relentless, atmospheric and hard to shake. The band released their debut album Dead Awake on Fuzz Club Records, which drew praise from Rolling Stone, Uncut and Sonic Seducer. Their second album, In Limerence, was described by Louder Than War as lush yet ice cold, swelling with bursts of energy before dissolving into ethereal depths. It marked a clear step forward, and the band went on to support Archive on a European arena tour, bringing their particular brand of beautiful and brutal to much larger stages.
