About
Black Harmony is a group with a sound that spans close harmony, soul and R&B on one side and the Surinamese traditions of apinti, kawina and kaseko on the other. Those two worlds don't just coexist in their work, they actively merge, with drum and voice treated as equal partners in a shared ritual energy. The group structures their live performance around three chapters titled Oorsprong, Verbinding and Transformatie, tracing their own musical evolution from harmonic pop forms toward deeper, rhythm driven ceremonial music. In 2026 they mark twenty years together, a span that speaks to both staying power and a willingness to keep pushing their sound into new territory.
