Formed in Mikkeli, Finland in 2005, Bloodred Hourglass have built a sizeable catalogue over nearly two decades of activity. The band, often shortened to BRHG, plays melodic death metal at their core but weaves in threads of metalcore and alternative metal to create something that sits slightly apart from the classic Finnish death metal template. The lineup features vocalist Jaredi Koukonen, drummer Jarkko Hyvönen, bassist Jose Moilanen and guitarists Lauri Silvonen, Joni Lahdenkauppi and Eero Silvonen. Six studio albums map their progression: Lifebound (2012), Where the Oceans Burn (2015), Heal (2017), Godsend (2019), Your Highness (2021) and How's the Heart? (2023). That steady output reflects a band that has kept moving rather than resting on a sound, gradually incorporating more modern textures without losing the melodic heaviness at the centre of what they do.
