About
Five former members of In Flames joining forces to recapture the Gothenburg sound they helped create in the 1990s is a pretty compelling origin story. The Halo Effect brings together guitarist and In Flames founder Jesper Strömblad, vocalist Mikael Stanne, guitarists Niclas Engelin, bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson, all signed to Nuclear Blast. The band's name, incidentally, is a nod to a track on Rush's Clockwork Angels. Their 2022 debut Days of the Lost landed to a strong reception in the melodic death metal world, and the band supported it with a European and UK run alongside Amon Amarth and Machine Head. They kept the momentum going with their second album March of the Unheard in early 2025, followed later that year by a covers EP called We Are Shadows. Strömblad stays off the road due to health reasons, but the rest of the lineup keeps the live operation rolling.
