About
Born at Midnite operate out of a former tax office above a clothing store in Montréal, and that DIY spirit runs through everything they make. The duo, Amery Sandford and David Carriere, build their tracks from scratch using samplers, tape machines and drum machines, keeping full control of the process themselves. Sandford brings a visual art background and a relaxed pop sensibility, while Carriere is also known for his work with the bands TOPS and Marci. Their music sits somewhere between sharp cultural commentary and pure fun, poking at the narcissism and self promotion of contemporary life while still delivering hooks you can't shake. They describe their own sound as an unsponsored form of product placement punk, a mix that spans airy cuts, singalong pop moments and straight up bangers. Since 2020 they have been steadily releasing new material, building a catalogue that works as well in a city venue as at an outdoor festival.
