About
Cosmic Psychos are one of Australia's most beloved rough and ready punk acts, built on a foundation of fuzzed out guitars, hard driving rhythms and a kind of cheerful yobbo attitude that is uniquely Melbourne. Formed in 1982 and finding their feet as Cosmic Psychos by 1985, they put out their debut mini LP Down on the Farm on Mr Spaceman Records that same year. Their sound has been described as equal parts Stooges riffs and Ramones tempos, drenched in wah wah and pub rock swagger. They shared stages and festival bills with Nirvana, Mudhoney, L7, Helmet and Motörhead, and their album Go the Hack got picked up by Sub Pop for North America. Blokes You Can Trust followed in 1991, produced by Butch Vig fresh off Nevermind, cementing their cult status internationally. The thread connecting all of it is Ross Knight's growling, working class vocals and a band formula that never pretends to be anything other than exactly what it is.
