Danielle Nicole plays bass like a lead instrument and sings like she means every word, which makes her one of the more distinctive voices in contemporary blues. She built her reputation in the Kansas City band Trampled Under Foot alongside her brothers, where she won a Blues Music Award for bass before going solo. Her debut album Wolf Den hit number 2 on the Billboard Blues chart, and Cry No More went all the way to number 1, earning a Grammy nomination and a string of Blues Music Awards. The Love You Bleed, released in early 2024, also shot to number 1 on the Billboard Blues chart in its second week and was picked as a top album of the year by Rock and Blues Muse magazine. She has taken home multiple Blues Music Awards for both bass instrumentalist and contemporary blues female artist, and shows no sign of slowing down.
