About
Danny Vera built his reputation the slow and steady way, gigging across the Netherlands for years before a football pundit changed everything. Johan Derksen, a fixture on Dutch TV talkshow Voetbal Inside, pushed hard for Vera to become the show's house band, and that visibility turned out to be the spark his career needed. His americana influenced sound, rooted in classic American production styles, took him as far as Nashville's Hilltop Studios to record his fourth album Pink Flamingo, working with session musicians who had played for the likes of Garth Brooks and Toto. The real breakthrough came with 'Roller Coaster', a track from his seventh album Pressure Makes Diamonds Part II. After a slow climb up the Dutch charts in 2019, the song eventually reached number one in the annual NPO Radio 2 Top 2000, the beloved Dutch year end countdown of all time favourites. He also collaborated with James Burton, the guitarist known for his work with Elvis Presley, on his album Distant Rumble, which gives you a pretty good idea of the musical territory he calls home.
