Douwe Bob is a Dutch singer songwriter with a sound rooted in folk, country, and Americana, and he has built a career that moves comfortably between intimate albums and massive television moments. He first caught wide attention by winning the talent show De beste singer songwriter van Nederland in 2012, and his debut album Born in a Storm followed in 2013, with most of its songs written during a holiday in Morocco. His third album Fool Bar peaked at number four on the Dutch Albums Chart, partly on the back of representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, where he performed Slow Down and finished eleventh with 153 points. His fourth album The Shape I'm In, released in 2018, was described by Douwe Bob himself as a break up record, and in 2019 he composed the title song for the Dutch film Singel 39, even taking on a small acting role in it.
